The Columbia River Highway
Construction of this scenic highway was a significant technical and civic achievement for its time, having been built between 1913 and 1922, and showed aesthetic judgment and appreciation for the magnificent Columbia River Gorge landscape. This site sponsored by the Oregon State Archives is rich in discription and history and includes renderings of early day postcards.
